Welcome to my little corner of the Internet. I plan to use this blog to discuss everything media and Web, along with a short series on why I’ve chosen to (very slowly) switch my home office over from all Macs to Linux-based systems. I might even throw a few things in here and there from some of my other hobbies and passions, including classic video games, license plates, beverages (adult and otherwise), gardening, and what I’m reading at the moment.
My hope is that I can create something here that is engaging to you, the reader. I’d like to write more than I usually have a chance to do. There is something therapeutic about getting your ideas down on paper or on the computer screen, and with a small person running around the house all day, it’s difficult to get the time to sit down and consolidate my thoughts. Writing on this platform is my way to get the creative juices flowing.
If you don’t know me personally, you might be wondering: small person? What the what? Along with freelance media producing, I am a proud stay-at-home dad to an energetic three year old who starts preschool this month. We spend most of our time at our home in the country a few miles outside Iowa City, Iowa. Our 115-year-old house sits on about half an acre in an almost-town of eight houses adjacent to a former railroad spur and current nature trail. After living in a college town for several years, it’s nice to be a few miles outside town, where we have some peace and quiet.
I hope to get something published on here at least once a week, but don’t hold me to that. It all depends on my current projects and the level of chaos present in my yard and house. If you would like to talk about anything, media or otherwise, just drop me a line at jaycarlcooper@gmail.com or send me a message through the contact page on http://www.jaycooper-media.com.
Have a great day!
