It’s been a couple of weeks since my last post, and having some down time the last few days has been great. My house is significantly less dirty than it was, and I’m finally getting caught up on some projects that have been sitting in my home office for quite some time. Also, it’s been a pleasure being able to spend time with my wife and daughter before our second child is born toward the end of January. Along with building Web sites, creating online media, and attending all sorts of entrepreneurial events, I’ve been a proud stay-at-home dad for almost four years now, and that’s an experience that I wouldn’t trade for anything.
I vividly remember all of the work that went into taking care of an infant – at least we get more channels on our antenna out in the country than we did in town. At that time, with the antenna we were using, we got 6 channels. 3 of those channels were Iowa Public Television, which signs off after midnight. Hopefully, I won’t be stuck watching too many low budget infomercials when the baby decides to wake up at 2 in the morning.
(We get over 40 channels now, thanks to living in the sweet spot between three different TV markets.)
Having the two kids almost four years apart is going to work out quite well. The older one is at an age where she can entertain herself at times if I need to help the younger, especially for the first couple of years. Also, the older one is so busy during the week, between preschool and time she spends with relatives around the area, that I will at least be able to devote time primarily to the younger one in the mornings. It’s going to be super busy between having two little people around and continuing to grow my freelance client base. I envision a lot of late nights and early mornings for the next few months, so I think I’ll start stocking up on strong coffee now.
Speaking of continuing to grow my client base, I am running a special offer for new projects. I am offering a 25% discount on all of my services on contracts signed between now and January 1, 2016. In addition, if you like my Facebook page, I will add an extra 5%. For large projects, this could mean hundreds of dollars off! Contact me for more details and with any questions about what I can do for you.
Other than 1 Million Cups tomorrow morning, there really aren’t any entrepreneurial events before the first of the year. If I don’t post again before the beginning of next year: Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a Happy New Year to you and yours.
